Go and live this spring in Yucatan

Our life is full of dreams and hopes. All human beings believe that we can move forward to be better or progress in the professional and personal field; we believe in gods, amulets, prayers, luck, and/or destiny. The beliefs that we have or can come to have do not matter since human beings are always open and exposed to new experiences that can help them to evolve, or at least, reflect.

Today I want to type about a proudly Mexican experience, original from one of many ancestral cultures, the Mayan culture; and of which you can be a spectator in the state of Yucatan. We are talking about the spring equinox, in the archaeological site of Chichen Itzá.

But, what happens in Chichén Itzá on March 21, each year?

Every year thousands of people gather to witness the descent of Quetzalcoatl. It is a play of light and shadow that takes place every year on the steps of the pyramidal structure of Chichen Itza known as "El Castillo". The sun rises and illuminates the west side of this structure, reflecting or creating an effect of triangles of light and shadow that seem to descend to the serpent head at the foot of the base. Undoubtedly, the builders of Chichen Itza were great astronomers, architects, engineers, and mathematicians, since it is no coincidence that on or around the date of March 21, this event can be appreciated so precisely.

Whether you go alone, with friends, or with your family, it will be a magical and unique experience that will impress your senses. Mexicans have a special discount to enter the archaeological zone, as well as people who live in the state of Yucatan and the elderly, presenting their corresponding valid identifications. The site is open every day from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, with the last access to the place being at 4 in the afternoon, it also has parking and sale of refreshing drinks, snacks, and handicrafts, inside the place. Traditionally, people have chosen to dress in white for this event, full of enthusiasm, and ready to be charged with the renewed energy of the sun.

It is recommended to buy drinks on-site to hydrate, a small snack, use sunscreen and bring an umbrella since the temperatures and humidity are high and can cause dehydration and discomfort to children, the elderly, or to people who are not used to high temperatures.
